For the very first time Carhartt WIP offers a well-selected range of permanent waxed jackets in the Spring / Summer 2011 collection.

Originated in the sailing industry in Scotland, waxed cotton is a true performance fabric with a history of more than 200 years. To protect from high winds and driving rain when out at sea, sailors used to rub heavy linen sailcloth with linseed oil to make simple and waterproof coats out of it.
Technical innovations in fabric and treatment throughout the 19th and 20th century – from linen to cotton and from linseed oil to paraffin wax – improved standards of durability, functionality and character. This made the farbic attractive to a broad range of markets. Today, it’s iconic of the outdoors, in the country fields as well as in the city streets.

What is permanent waxed cotton?
For our jackets we use permanent waxed cotton and take advantage of the high-tech industrial coating: the wax is applied to the whole fabric and not just on the garment, which makes the coating more effective without losing its original look. Permanent waxed cotton stays consistent, you don’t have to re-wax your jacket after washing.

MICHIGAN COAT

With the Michigan Coat you now get the traditional Carhartt work jacket in permanent waxed cotton. The jacket includes a cotton lining, a corduroy top collar and inside storm cuffs. Four pockets offer enough storage for your goods. The perfect match between traditional Carhartt style and functionality. The jacket comes in the colours Carhartt Brown, Cypress, Black and Dark Navy in the sizes XS–XXL.

ARCTIC COAT

Our Arctic Coat is a Carhartt master piece. The coat is equipped with two chest pockets, two lower front pockets and one inside pocket and comes with a 100% cotton lining. A corduroy top collar adds some British hunters’ style and inside storm cuffs keep the cold outside. Available in the colours Tobacco, Carhartt Brown, Cypress, Black and Dark Navy.

ACTIVE JACKET

This season the Active Jacket comes in permanent waxed cotton, featuring typical details like kangaroo pockets, two inside pockets and rib-knit cuffs. This new combination of style and fabric gives our all time classic a completely new flavour.
Choose between the colours Tobacco, Carhartt Brown, Cypress, Black and Dark Navy.
