Alexander Nut / Eglo Radio Show

Some days ago Eglo Records celebrated their fourth anniversary with a double CD. For Carhartt Radio label co-owner Alexander Nut has thrown together a show that fetes the jubilee with an hour of essential rhythms.

For over four years the vibrant, young label has gone from strength to strength, establishing the careers of number of key artists like Floating Points, Fatima, and Funkineven.

The label was launched in 2009 when Floating Points and Alexander Nut ran into each other at the Plastic People nightclub in London. Since then Eglo Records has established one of the UK's finest contemporary Funk and Soul based catalogues. The company itself works like a close-knit family in which each member is befriended with the other, in it with a full heart and bags of soul. As a platform for the undiscovered the label releases modern dance music that fuses soulful Hip Hop with House and Techno.

For Carhartt Radio Alexander Nut mixed a show that sheds a light on the different sides to the label with artists such as The Abstract Eye, Mizz Beats, Shuanise, as well as Floating Points, Fatima, and Funkineven.

Cubenx / InFiné Radio Show

Since 2006 the French label InFiné released 21 albums and 49 EPs. A large discography in a short period of time that is crammed with music that does not follow one stylistic guideline. From Techno to Classic, from House to Electronica, and Pop: each new release enters a new path in sound. Their artists roster consists of hailed musicians like the Luxembourg pianist and composer Francesco Tristano, the Austrian Minimal Pop lady Clara Moto, the experimental Techno maverick Rone, mysterious Arandel, the Classic meets Techno trio Aufgang, and the French club music legends Agoria and Oxia.

For Carhartt Radio the Mexican producer Cubenx, who released his debut longplayer On Your Own Again on InFiné in 2012, mixed a label showcase that underlines the multicolored publication policy of InFiné and documents that the record company lives the global dream with catchy but hard to pigeonhole music from all around the planet.

Brandt Brauer Frick Tour Special

Brandt Brauer Frick have made name for themselves producing Techno without the technology, using classical instruments in preference to synthesizers and computers.

Their 2010 debut album You Make Me Real was a forward-thinking feat. They reworked it in 2011 on their second longplayer Mr. Machine - a Techno record totally recorded live by a ten-piece classical ensemble. On their third album Miami they again take a new direction to cross frontiers. This time they wrote more songs then tracks and feature guest vocalists like British crooner Jamie Lidell, the to die for Russian DJ and producer Nina Kraviz as well as Om’Mas Keith - one third of Sa-Ra Creative Partners and Grammy awarded producer of Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange album.

In cooperation with Carhartt WIP Brandt Brauer Frick now go on an Europe tour where they will present their new stripped down live show with vocal guest Om'Mas Keith. To accompany the tour with some specialities they mixed us a exclusive Carhartt Radio Show that melts their remix works for artists like Nôze or Francesco Tristano with exclusive material that didn't make it on their latest longplayer.

Trus'me - Prime Numbers Radio Show

Since 2007 Manchester-based producer and DJ David Wolstencroft aka Trus'me is an inherent part of the world-wide club music culture. His albums "Working Night" and "In The Red" been critically acclaimed and played by DJs all around the globe.

Besides making music he released records of such artists like Actress, Linkwood, Fudge Fingas, or Nick Sinna on his label Prime Numbers and established himself as a DJ that peppers his House and Techno sets with Disco, Funk, Soul, and Electro to widen them into something unique and special. Now his third album Treat Me Right is waiting in the wings  - a record that grooves deep with Funk and Soul-inspired Techno. Before the album sees the light of the day Trus'me delivers a vinyl edition and a CD featuring remixes of his tracks by renowned producers such as the Berghain residents Norman Nodge, Ben Klock, and Marcel Dettmann, Detroit's future Techno scientist Terrence Dixon, or Ukraine's finest House producer Vakula.

For Carhartt Radio he prepared a special show of the whole remix packet  - a driving evidence of his DJ skills and his taste for contemporary dance music that has that certain 'je ne sais quoi'.

MOXIE - Deviation Radio Show

Since five years Deviation is one of London’s most forward-thinking club nights. Once in a month the London based DJ and BBC radio host Benji B celebrates a bash with a very special guest spinning records on his side. He brought DâM-Funk over for his first ever UK show, he supported Flying Lotus since day one, and he danced the night away with legends like Theo Parrish, Moodymann, Peanut Butter Wolf, Madlib, or Dego.

For Carhartt Radio Deviation DJane and NTS Radio host Moxie prepared an one-hour mix that represents the true Deviation spirit and features artists such as Harmonic 313, Joy Orbison, Floating Points, Mala, Theo Parrish, DâM-Funk, or Zomby.

> PHON.O 50Weapons / Monkeytown Radio Show

You always meet twice: those who are familiar with Carhartt Radio know that PHON.O already played some music at our station. As one-half of CLP he produced with his friend Chris De Luca our very first Carhartt Radio
edition in November 2008. Now he is back with a collection of music from the labels 50Weapons and Monkeytown
- two record companies guided by the tasty leadership of Modeselektor.

On 50Weapons PHON.O released his third longplayer
Black Boulder last May and returned with a thrilling mix of captivating Dubstep, froggy UK Garage, deep Berlin
Techno, and some foggy Dub atmospheres. Besides his own music his mix for Carhartt Radio features straight
and edgy Techno from such artists like Addison Groove, Cosmin TRG, Marcel Dettmann, or Modeselektor.

> Ron Morelli L.I.E.S. Radio Show

There is a fresh breeze in New York's contemporary electronic music scene. A private press label to keep an eye on is Long Island Electrical Systems (L.I.E.S.). It has been launched in 2010 by Ron Morelli - a music devotee and employee at New York's famous A-1 record store.

Till today he has only released strictly vinyl records of gifted mates like Jason Letkiewicz (aka Steve Summers/Malvoeaux), Legowelt, Willie Burns, or new talents like XOSAR and Svenghalisghost. Most of them are printed in small numbers and often only signed with hand-stamps. Stylistically the L.I.E.S. output is chameleonic: House, Acid, Techno, Industrial, synth-laden cosmic Ambient - there is no real principle when it comes to genres. Only one thing is for sure: the label is guided by the classic DIY Punk spirit.

> Madlib Medicine Radio Show Pt. 2

Los Angeles based DJ, multi-instrumentalist, rapper, and music producer Madlib let his mind free wheeling and prepared a Carhartt Radio show that accompanies the Medicine Show Europe Tour 2012 featuring Freddie Gibbs, J Rocc, and himself. His mix features unreleased, unheard, and exclusive Madlib material in combination with some known stuff out of his musical universe. An edgy twisted, 47 minutes long collage that melts HipHop and audio drama into one big psychedelic trip.

The first edition of the Medicine Radio Show features some old and new Funk and Soul treasures - all mixed
by J Rocc - legendary turntablist and founding member
of the World Famous Beat Junkies. From the celebrated American Jazz and Rock fusion band Stark Reality to the raw German Afro-Funk group The Whitefield Brothers, and the sixties student group Kashmere Stage Band which became famous after been sampled by Handsome Boy Modeling School and DJ Shadow: the man from Southern California digged deep in his record case and prepared a thrilling mix that grooves with an organic
party starting flow.

J Rocc Medecine Radio Show

> Breton Radio Show

Squatters with attitude: the London based collective Breton lives in an abandoned bank where the band exchanges artistic ideas instead of money. The band originally teamed up in 2010 to create visual adventures accompanied live by specially engineered music scores. Their own music is a truly original mélange of HipHop, electronica, and cinematic soundscapes and has an unconventional, atmospheric style, including wailing sirens, screeching subway trains and strange field recordings. Beside this you can also hear the influences of Portishead, Michael Jackson, NWA, and Quincy Jones in their debut album Other People’s Problems. For Carhartt Radio they mixed a show with rare unreleased material and remixes.

This month Matias Aguayo highjacks us into the world of Cómeme records where the beats have no name,
soul is on a roll, and the groove is in the heart.

Together with his mate Alejandro Paz he prepared a show that spreads all the musical temperaments that made Cómeme world-famous.

Musically the show longs from infectious semi-electronic body music and cumbia-inspired rhythm affairs to
detached pitch-frenzied Disco, frantic Chicago
influenced House, and other hard to pigeonhole
eclecticism from such artists like Ana Helder, Rebolledo, Barnt, Daniel Maloso, or the mysterious band Isaac Johan.

> Mark Ernestus with Tikiman

Deep Reggae and heavy Dub: this month we present a show by Mark Ernestus with Tikiman on the mic.

As the founder of the legendary Berlin based Hard Wax record store he laid the foundation for Berlin's electronic club music scene in 1989. As one half of Basic Channel (aka Maurizio), he gained international fame with a hybrid
of Dub and Techno.

As part of the duo Rhythm & Sound he refined this signature sound alongside a range of vocalists - most extensively Tikiman aka Paul St. Hilaire.

For Carhartt Radio they prepared a mix loaded with rare gems by Reggae legends such as Prince Jazzbo, Nitty Gritty, or Ken Boothe. Tune in and get absorbed by real weigthy bass pleasure!

> Not Not Fun Radio Show

This month we are happy to announce a show by two of the most free spirited and truly DIY record companies of our times: Los Angeles based Not Not Fun Records and its sister label 100% Silk.

Co-owner Britt Brown has been so kind to pick some of his favorites out of their rich repertoire and throw them in the mix. A musical dive into murky Disco and House atmospheres, No-Wave-Techno and psychedelic Cosmic-IDM - made by such remarkable young artists like Cruise Family from Austria, Maria Minerva from Estonia or Ital from the USA.

All of their compositions share one intention: to expand the mind of each new listener!

Let there be bass: Dub-Techno isn't just a dance music style that is made to party, it is also perfect for deep loop driven relaxation.

One keeper of the Dub-Techno Grail is the Dane Kenneth Christiansen. With his label Echocord he has been
pushing the boundaries of the genre since 2002.

For Carhartt Radio he mixed us a show with brand-new Echocord tracks that move you with a warm deep bass pressure produced by such artists as Luke Hess,
Function, Mikkel Metal or Quantec.

Their House and Techno music is full of organic
ingredients, their thrilling concerts are unforeseeable energetic happenings: the unstoppable French band dOP
is totally unparalleled and world-wide loved for this ability.

For Carhartt Radio they prepared a show featuring only tracks of their remix work in one flow for the first time.

The list of artists that the trio revised longs from
Kate Simko and Gwen McCrae to Franz Ferdinand and When Saints Go Machine - all incomparably touched and reshaped by the magic hand of dOP.

This month Carhartt Radio features Lovemonk, a record label from the Malasaña borough of Madrid.

The label is runned by Señorlobo and Lubacov, two buddies who like it eclectic. Their release policy is not bound to any style and everthing is welcome - from Funk, Soul, Jazz to Hip Hop, House, Disco or Electronic.

In their contribution to Carhartt Radio the Lovemonk chief executives feature such artist like Pajaro Sunrise, Space Ranger or The Gigoletto Brass Ensemble and underpin deeply they are hard to pigeonhole.

Unique, eclectic and always good for new sound directions: since 1997 the British label FatCat Records spreads music far beyond the average.

For Carhartt Radio founder Alex Knight and his partner James Vella mixed us a show that underpins the labels versatile approach with sounds from all sort of styles.

From upcoming newcomers like Londons furios Breton to the electrified atmospheres of San Francisco's duo
Matmos and the psyched out Indierock grooves of Mazes:
be ready for 60 minutes of music without blinkers!

> Douglas Greed: Freude am Tanzen Radio Show

In 1998 some House and Techno loving folks from East Germany established a label called Freude am Tanzen
(joy of dancing). Since then the story of it and it's sub-division Musik Krause grown into a world-wide success.

Beside Minimal, House, and Techno also some HipHop
and Jazz influenced Downbeat grooves are part of their diversified catalogue. A versatileness that now can be heard in our first Carhartt Radio show in 2012.

The mix is done by Douglas Greed - another fellow of the Freude am Tanzen tribe who recently released his first
solo longplayer KLR.

> Chrisfader: Rhymesayers Tour Radio Show

When it came to Rhymesayers Entertainment’s contribution to our Carhartt Radio series, we did something a little different.

Rather than having one of the Minneapolis label’s DJs create the show, we ran a competition to see which Rhymesayers fan could put together the finest mix.

The winner was Chrisfader from Vienna, who received exclusive radio drops from all the artists on the tour as well as a drive of Rhymesayers music to choose from.

Three-times winner of the Austrian ITF Championships, Chrisfader’s technical skills are in no doubt, and combined with a deep knowledge of the Rhymesayers catalogue, he was able to turn in a jaw-dropping mix.

Since 2003 WhoMadeWho make their audiences dance, laugh and never take themselves all too seriously.

They also have been one of the few bands that redefine the term “crossover” with their genre-hopping style between Funk, Rock, House, Disco and Psychelic.

For Carhartt Radio the boys from Copenhagen took a ride towards their opus and feature scuffproof songs
from the past and present.

As one third of the British Indiepop sensation The xx producer Jamie xx already gained world-wide fame.

For Carhartt Radio Jamie mixed a show titled "Music To Skate To" - an astonishing rhythmic tour de force with tracks by artists such as RJD2, Four Tet, Harmonic 313,
or The Natural Yoghurt Band.
