Carhartt Radio

Carhartt Radio præsenterer et varieret mix af interviews, shows og mix fra udvalgte DJs, kunstnere og pladeselskabsejere
Der vil være et nyt show på programmet med ca en måneds interval.

'Exclusively and very personal: Carhartt Radio isn't just another DJ mix! Personally the creators themselves will broadcast selected music and individual shows. Label owners, DJs and artists will play, perform and talk about their own music and their backgrounds. That's the intimate amateur view, brought by pros.
Versatility is the buzzword — from bubble-bath-soul to technical death metal, from booty beats to nerdy hip hop from girl-pop to eclectic dubstep. The labels and artists involved in this project will represent their own genre in the stream and show the diversity of the musical world we live in.'

Earlier Radio Shows:

Freude am Tanzen

> Douglas Greed: Freude am Tanzen Radio Show

In 1998 some House and Techno loving folks from East Germany established a label called Freude am Tanzen (joy of dancing). Since then the story of it and it's sub-division Musik Krause grown into a world-wide success. Beside Minimal, House, and Techno also some HipHop and Jazz influenced Downbeat grooves are part of their diversified catalogue. A versatileness that now can be heard in our first Carhartt Radio show in 2012. The mix is done by Douglas Greed - another fellow of the Freude am Tanzen tribe who recently released his first solo longplayer KLR.

Carhartt Radio: Mumblz: Brownswood Radio Show

> Mumblz: Brownswood Radio Show

Since 2006 Brownswood Recordings spreads music with soul – no matter where it’s from or what the style. Since then artists such as Ghostpoet, Jose James, or the Owiny Sigoma Band transformed the label into a trademark of unbreakable sound that longs from Folk to Soul, Afro, Salsa and Dubstep. A free spirited attitude that also dominates the exclusive Brownswood Carhartt Radio show mixed by DJ Mumblz. Beside the widely ramified music of the labels catalogue his mix also presents some tracks of befriended artists such as dBridge or King Coya.

Chrisfader: Rhymesayers Tour Radio Show

> Chrisfader: Rhymesayers Tour Radio Show

When it came to Rhymesayers Entertainment’s contribution to our Carhartt Radio series, we did something a little different. Rather than having one of the Minneapolis label’s DJs create the show, we ran a competition to see which Rhymesayers fan could put together the finest mix. The winner was Chrisfader from Vienna, who received exclusive radio drops from all the artists on the tour as well as a drive of Rhymesayers music to choose from. Three-times winner of the Austrian ITF Championships, Chrisfader’s technical skills are in no doubt, and combined with a deep knowledge of the Rhymesayers catalogue, he was able to turn in a jaw-dropping mix.

Carhartt Radio: DJ Monster: Fat Beats Radio Show

> DJ Monster: Fat Beats Radio Show

This month we go deep down into Hip Hop science with an exclusive Fat Beats Carhartt Radio show full of rare and unreleased stuff. When Fat Beats closed their record stores in New York and Los Angeles last year, the cratediggers of the world eat their hearts out. Not only because they lost a real treasure trove. They also lost a unique social centre of Hip Hop independence. Thankfully the Brooklyn based record company still releases matchless HipHop. We now feel honored to present a Fat Beats show full of music by such artists like Large Professor, CSC Funk Band, or KRS-One & True Master - all mixed with pure Funk energy by DJ Monster.

> Jamie xx: Music To Skate To

As one third of the British Indiepop sensation The xx producer Jamie xx already gained world-wide fame. For Carhartt Radio Jamie mixed a show titled "Music To Skate To" - an astonishing rhythmic tour de force with tracks by artists such as RJD2, Four Tet, Harmonic 313, or The Natural Yoghurt Band.

After The xx won the renowned British Mercury Prize in 2010, they withdrew from the media limelight for a while, in order to catch their breaths and find new inspiration for a next album. However, the prolific beatsmith Jamie xx continued to churn our new material. As the first of his band colleagues he returned with a series of remixes of and for such artists such as Florence & The Machine, Glasser, Jack Peñate and Adele. In addition to this, he has managed to establish himself as a much-coveted club DJ in his home country. Only recently now he released the album ³We¹re New Here², a remix album of Gil Scott Heron¹s last longplayer, which immediately received wide international notice. Those who would like to learn more about Jamie xx can soon do so in 5th edition of the Carhartt brandbook, available in all Carhartt stores as of 16 March. In an extensive interview for the magazine, the exceptional producer gives interesting insights into his private life, talks about previously unknown details from The xx¹s band history, and reveals the dancefloors where you are most likely to run into him in the London club scene.
